Creamy Tuna and Swiss on Rye Toast

Do any of you remember a meal growing up that was the simplest of simple and was sort of that go to dish because you had no other plans? This Creamy Tuna and Swiss on Rye Toast stems from one of my favorite dishes growing up. When things got hectic or there were no other dinner plans my dad would throw together some creamed tuna and serve it over a delicious piece of buttered white toast.

It is basically a buttery creamy white sauce, seasoned with salt and pepper.  The tuna is mixed in and just like that dinner is done.

It was easy, fast, and was so satisfying.  I am telling you I loved when he made it! Thanks Dad!

Just recently I made this for my family.  I did not have any other plans and since we usually have canned tuna in the house I whipped it together.  My husband wondered why I had never made it for him and my kids devoured it. They all loved it!

This dish is perfect made on the stove and served over white bread crisped up in the toaster.  However, I thought I would take it up a notch and serve it over oven toasted rye bread and top it with Swiss cheese. The cheese melts beautifully in the oven and gets nice and bubbly and brown.  It really is a fuss free dinner that is out of this world delicious.

Of course you can use your preferred choice of bread.  My husband and I love Rye and the bold earthy flavor pairs nice with the tuna. My kids, however, like the white bread the best.

If you are in need of more quick and easy dinners, this Creamy Tuna and Swiss on Rye Toast is just for you.
